What do the numbers in the version releases mean?

  • Major Version means a revision of the script that includes new significant features or significant changes to the already existing features on a lower Major Version of the script.
  • A minor version change indicates that there are new features added to the package but still maintains backward compatibility. This means that if you update to a new minor version, your code should still work with the new version of the package.
  • A patch is a set of changes to a script or its supporting data designed to update, fix, or improve it. This includes fixing security vulnerabilities and other bugs, with such patches usually being called bugfixes or bug fixes.
